What We DoThe Air Quality Program at the Missoula City-County Health Department is responsible for monitoring air pollutants in Missoula County, providing the public with air quality information and health advisories, and enforcing the Missoula City-County Air Pollution Control Program. The Air Program also conducts studies and works with communities to solve localized air pollution problems.

Who We Are

Ben Schmidt Ben has been working at the Missoula City-County Health Department for more than 20 years. He has been a part of the Air Quality Program since the early 1990s. Ben heads up industry and woodstoves for the division. He also was the lead for the Seeley Lake Woodstove Changeout, which led to a 70 percent reduction in particulate pollution at the Seeley Lake Elementary School between 2012 and 2014.
Sarah Coefield Sarah has been a part of the Air Quality Program since 2010. Sarah runs lead on outdoor burning, wildfires, and oxygenated fuels. Sarah also works on large projects, such as the PM10 Redesignation Request and the Carbon Monoxide Limited Maintenance Plan. |
