If you are able, please call our office or the YWCA crisis line (800) 483-7858 directly; they are the most effective and safest ways to get the help you need. Advocate Services

The CVA program provides free and confidential assistance to victims of relationship violence, sexual assault, and stalking by offering advocacy and resource information in civil and criminal matters. For more information, check out our brochure.

  • Listen and advocate on behalf of the victim.
  • Offer confidential services.
  • Provide crisis counseling, emotional support and guidance.
  • Explain how the court process works.
  • Find out what is happening in victim's court case.
  • Assist with application for an Order of Protection if a victim of physical or sexual assault and/or stalking.
  • Help prepare for an Order of Protection hearing.
  • Talk to victims about the Crime Victim Compensation Fund.
  • Inform victim about community services.
  • Provide a safe place to discuss court matters.
  • Help victim request restitution for losses, damages and medical costs.

Victims do not have to visit the Crime Victim Advocate office to apply for an Order of Protection.  Go to the Order of Protection Forms and Checklist page.

Criminal Advocates

  • Keep victims apprised of ongoing court cases.
  • Help clients request restitution for losses, damages, or medical expenses.
  • Explain how the court process works.
  • Crisis counseling and emotional support.

Civil Advocates

  • Assist victims when filling out an Order of Protection.
  • Attend victim Order of Protection hearing.
  • Make appropriate referrals.
  • Crisis counseling and emotional support.

Restitution Advocates

  • Assist with the restitution process for property crimes.
  • Provides information regarding the court process.
  • Make appropriate referrals.
