- Montana Cadastral Mapping Program
Cadastral data is the information about rights and interest in land. The data may also be known as real estate data, parcel information, or tax parcel information. The Montana Cadastral Framework data consists of tax parcels defined by the Montana Department of Revenue and built primarily upon CadNSDI Montana; a digital representation of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) created from survey records and mapping control information. Links are provided to download this information for the State of Montana. Be sure to review the documentation.

The National Map is a division of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and distributes US Topos, historical topographic maps, elevation data, the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) and other information. Please note that there is a difference between US Topos and historical topographic maps.

Professional Organizations
- Montana Association of Geographic Information Professionals (MAGIP)
MAGIP is a non-profit 501 (c) (06) professional association that works to identify and support the strengths of individual members, find solutions to individual and collective problems, and address the needs of the Montana GIS community as a whole. Its mission is to stimulate, encourage, and otherwise provide for the advancement of an interdisciplinary approach to the use of geographic information. The Association sponsors educational workshops, conferences, forums, grants, and scholarships. The association works collectively with educators, data creators, data users, application developers, and software vendors to foster technical cooperation and promote the development of sound management policy and practices that can support the efficient and effective use of geographic information system resources.

The Northwest GIS User Group, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides a forum for training, exchange of knowledge, techniques, and data among the users of ESRI software and related GIS products and services.
Wildland Fire Resources
- InciWeb
InciWeb is an interagency all‑risk incident information management system. The system was developed with two primary missions. The first is to provide the public a single source of incident related information. The second is to provide a standardized reporting tool for the Public Affairs community. A number of supporting systems automate the delivery of incident information to remote sources. This ensures that the information regarding active incidents is consistent, and the delivery is timely.

GEOMAC Wildfire Mapper
The Geospatial Multi-Agency Coordination or GeoMAC, is an internet-based mapping application originally designed for fire managers to access online maps of current fire locations and perimeters in the United States. Using a standard web browser, fire personnel can view this information to pinpoint the affected areas. With the growing concern of western wildland fires in the summer of 2000, this application also became available to the public.
- USDA Forest Service Remote Sensing Applications Center Active Fire Mapping
The Active Fire Mapping Program is an operational, satellite-based fire detection and monitoring program managed by the USDA Forest Service Remote Sensing Applications Center (RSAC) located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Active Fire Mapping program provides near real-time detection and characterization of wildland fire conditions in a geospatial context for the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii and Canada. Detectable fire activity across all administrative ownerships in the United States and Canada are mapped and characterized by the program.
