Clerk of Court / District Court Operations
Please be advised of the following changes in the delivery of services provided by the Clerk of District Court office due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Information will be updated as circumstances change.
Clerk of Court
As of June 1, 2021 the office is open to the public.
Office hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
In-person services available by appointment (preferred) or walkup.
Visitors without an appointment may experience longer wait times based upon recommended occupancy levels.

Customer Service Area
- The office recommends no more than one person to attend an appointment but will make accommodations as needed.
- Maximum recommended capacity in the customer service area: 3 customers
- Visitors with appointments should enter the line on the right outside the clerk's office while maintaining a recommended 6 feet distance from others.
- Visitors without an appointment should enter the line on the left outside the clerk's office while maintaining a recommended 6 feet distance from others.
- Maintaining physical distancing of 6 feet in the customer service area is highly recommended. Tape markings on the floor provide accurate 6 feet distances.
- A mask or face covering is highly recommended. Disposable masks are available upon request.
- Hand sanitizer will be available for customers.
- Staff will continue to wipe down counters, pens, glass barriers and other items between customers.
Public Search Area
- Maximum recommended capacity for public search area: 1 customer
- Call (406) 258-4780 to schedule an appointment to access a public computer.
Marriage Licenses
Applicants are asked to schedule an appointment to obtain a marriage license.
- Call (406) 258-4780 to schedule an appointment.
- Applicants must use the online marriage application system to complete the application prior to the appointment.
