Requirements for a Marriage License for Minors

If either or both of the bride and groom are under the age of 18 years and at least 16 years of age the following additional requirements must be met:

Parental Consent - Parent or legal guardian must sign the Consent for Minor form.

Counseling - Proof of two counseling sessions, ten days apart, with a Court approved counselor.

Judicial Approval - A District Court Judge must approve and sign the Marriage Application. A Judge may require a conference with the applications and/or guardian(s).

 

NOTE: A marriage license is valid for 180 days, may be obtained in any county in Montana but is valid only in Montana.
