Micro Grant 

Missoula County is accepting competitive grant applications from 501(c)3 not-for-profit organizations, schools, special districts, community councils, citizen groups, and individuals for community-driven projects that enhance the quality of life in the rural areas of Missoula County. The Micro Grant is designed to support community projects that can be completed within 90 days and are requesting between $100 and $500 in grant funds. Projects must meet a demonstrated need or demand, be a community benefit and have community support (see application guidelines for details).

  • Grant awards range from a minimum of $100 to a maximum of $500.
  • Project must be located in Missoula County, outside of the City of Missoula limits. 
  • Grant awards are dependent on available funds. No guarantees are made that applications will be funded.
  • Deadline: Applications are due on the last day of the month and will be accepted monthly, until all funds have been allocated. Applications will be evaluated and decisions made by the end of the following month.

Micro Grants awarded in 2023:

  • The Seeley Lake Market, which used the funds to rent a portable toilet for the summer market.
  • The Frenchtown Senior Citizens group, which purchased food and beverage materials and cleaning supplies to help maintain the Frenchtown Fire Hall that hosts many local events.
  • The Seeley Lake Bear Fair, which purchased materials and bear spray for the annual community event that raises awareness about bear safety.
  • East Missoula United, created a mailer to inform residents of the Earth Day Clean Up event. 
  • Seeley Lake Nordic Ski Club, which help fund safety and compliance improvements for the Seeley Creek Nordic Ski Trail Biathlon Range. 
  • Frenchtown Community Coalition, which hosted the Frenchtown Fall Festival, a safe, family-friendly event on Halloween weekend.

Impact Grant - Applications closed February 29, 2024

Missoula County is accepting competitive grant applications from 501(c)3 not-for-profit organizations, schools, special districts, community councils, citizen groups, and individuals for community-driven projects that enhance the quality of life in the rural areas of Missoula County. The Impact Grant is designed to support community projects that can be completed by Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, and are requesting between $501 and $4,000 in grant funds. Projects must meet a demonstrated need or demand, be a community benefit, have community support and have a broad impact.   
  • Grant awards range from a minimum of $501 to a maximum of $4,000.
  • Project must be located in Missoula County, outside of the City of Missoula limits.
  • Grant awards are dependent on available funds. No guarantees are made that applications will be funded.
  • Deadline: Applications are due by 5 p.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

2023 Impact Grant awardees: 

  • The Potomac School District, which will purchase a walk-in cooler to ensure food safety for students and community members. ($4,000)
  • The Seeley Lake Lions Club, which will hire Red Cross-certified swim instructors to teach swim lessons for approximately 97 children at the Double Arrow swimming pool. ($4,000)
  • The Original Swan River Tavern Foundation, which will receive partial funding to construct a concrete foundation for the tavern, located at the Swan Valley Museum in Condon. ($3,750)
  • The Bonner-Milltown History Center, which will transcribe 12 roundtable history programs for archival preservation. ($3,000)
  • Travelers’ Rest Preservation and Historical Society, which will provide partial funding to host local indigenous historians and artisans to provide interpretive demonstrations at Travelers’ Rest in Lolo from June to August. ($2,625)
  • Symphony in Schools, which will receive partial funding to send musicians from the Missoula Symphony Orchestra to classrooms in Seeley Lake, Lolo, Frenchtown, Target Range and Bonner. ($2,625)
