MPL will kick off the program by welcoming New York Times best-selling children’s book author Kate DiCamillo. The library will host DiCamillo live via Zoom at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, for a conversation about reading and writing with some of her well-loved characters, such as Winn Dixie, Mercy Watson, Edward Tulane and more.

The popular Read to Ride drawing also will return this year’s Western Montana Fair at the Missoula County Fairgrounds. In addition to choosing a free book, kids who complete half or more of their reading logs by Friday, July 26, can enter a drawing for free rides at the Fair. Kids have a chance to win one of 50 ride booklets containing six ride vouchers or one of 10 “Golden Ticket” ride wristband coupons for unlimited rides for the whole week of the Fair.
